Keeping up appearances is draining.

Combining compassion and learning creates a safe place to examine what hasn’t been working, while also drawing upon a breadth of expert information to create effective alternatives. I help people find what they need to be able to start feeling better. With patience, encouragement, and practice, change can happen.

A bout Me

I am a licensed professional counselor and have extensive experience working with both new and long-term anxiety, stress, self-doubt, life transitions, communication difficulties, parenting issues, and existential crises. With 20 years in practice, I am known for helping people navigate complex and liming situations.

I live with my husband, our daughter, a cat, and a “pet” wild cardinal who comes to visit when he’s called. When I’m not in the office, I’m either reading, outdoors, in a museum, or playing music.

Anxiety, Stress, and Worry

Persistent worry, feeling shaky and breathless, a sense of losing control, and negative or frightening thoughts can all feel uncomfortable, confining, and even dangerous. Anxiety can seem like it has a permanent and controlling role in your life. Thankfully, evidence-based treatments can significantly help to reduce anxiety and increase your sense of well-being. Learning to recognize anxious cues in your thoughts, emotions, and body while learning how to respond helpfully to them can give back so much time, energy, and choices that anxiety takes

from you.

I teach anxious adults skills to help them feel better, and to become confident in knowing how to deal effectively with anxiety, and specialize in working with OCD, phobias, panic attacks, and autistic/Aspergers professionals.

New and Established Couples

When you think you know someone so well, it can be surprising or even frustrating to encounter situations that interfere with your peace at home. It is totally normal to face significant changes over time as a couple, despite the widespread assumption that your original attraction and romance should be enough to sustain you through several decades. Letting problems linger due to embarrassment or hoping they will go away on their own delays the relief of finding a good solution and can make issues harder to work through. Guided by research that supports the best long-term outcomes for a mutually satisfying relationship, I help you find solutions that best fit your needs, offer a fresh perspective, and

which feel fair.

Issues that I help couples deal with include expectations and agreements about money, preferences for sex and intimacy, no (or low) sex relationships, effective communication and arguments, household roles and expectations, cultural and religious differences, relationship

effects of long-term health issues of one or both partners, coping with emotional, sexual, and financial infidelity, LGBTQIA, revising shared goals through stages of life, interactions with families of origin, issues with children and parenting, fertility, finding and maintaining an ideal balance of work and free time, and celebrating special occasions in mutually enjoyable ways.

Insurance information

My professional services qualify for reimbursement out of network by most insurance policies. To ensure maximum flexibility and privacy in offering services best suited to your individual needs, I do not participate in-network with insurance panels. Reimbursement rates vary based

on individual plan terms, but often offer comparable rates of coverage to in-network rates.

Clients receive monthly superbills which have all information needed to submit for out of

network reimbursement.
