Andrew Dalrymple, Intern Counselor | 202-713-9697 andrew.fcwc@gmail.com
I am an affirming, strengths-based narrative therapist who believes “story” is one of the greatest languages we use for self-expression. We all carry internal narratives about ourselves, sometimes without realizing it. I am deeply passionate about helping my clients better understand who they are and to shape and tell the story they want to live.
I practice through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens, with a focus on supporting refugees, immigrants, internally displaced persons, and victims of systemic violence. Experiences of displacement can radically change our stories, often through circumstances beyond our control. I also support clients who are exploring or deconstructing religious trauma, helping them process difficult experiences with faith, identity, and belonging in a way that prioritizes autonomy and self-compassion.
At the center of my identity as a counselor is a disposition of social justice advocacy. I know it can feel exhausting to tell your story from the beginning with all of its nuance and specificity. What I bring to our sessions is a commitment to research and stay up-to-date on the unique factors that have influenced your narrative. In this way, I hope that you feel seen, understood, and supported by a counselor who is curious and ready to learn about what makes you “you”.
