MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN
Cydney Caesar, Intern in Counseling
I am an interning counselor working towards my master’s degree in Mental Health and
Wellness Counseling at New York University. I have a strong background in childhood
education and behavior, working with children with ASD, ADHD, and other learning
impairments. My goal as an interning counselor is to provide a safe, supportive environment for
my clients to feel heard. I would like to support you in discovering the meaning to your
narratives and experiences.
Everybody has a story, and it is my responsibility as your therapist to gain an
understanding of your story, its roots, and its impact. The narratives we carry with us can have a
significant impact on our behavior, and the choices that we make daily. Learning your narrative
directly from you as the client, provides the best insight into your experience. That is why I
maintain a person-centered approach to therapy. This is because this approach deems you as the
expert in your life’s experiences while my role is to support you in navigating that.
In doing so, I also believe that it is important to assist you with discovering new skills that are useful to help you cope and emotionally regulate. The discussion and implementation of these skills in session are so that they can be applied to your personal life.
Choosing to seek out therapy is an act of bravery itself; it is admirable to decide that you want to seek support. My goal in working together is to create a collaborative relationship where can support you in feeling capable of agentic actions in your life!
My supervisor at Falls Church Wellness Center is Shannon Graves, LPC. To schedule an appointment or consultation with me I can be reached at 929-548-2966 or you can email me at email@example.com. I look forward to working with you!
