MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN
Shannon Graves, M.A., LPC
One of the bravest choices you can make is the active decision to understand your own story. You don't have to feel stuck, and often one of the biggest missing pieces is simply to be heard and validated. I find that bringing awareness to our patterns and tendencies is a huge piece of the puzzle and I would be happy to help you identify the narratives you want to rewrite.
My primary areas of expertise are chemical and process addictions, LGBTQ+ issues, sex therapy, trauma, anxiety, and boundary setting. I am also experienced in working with those who live with Bipolar Disorders, ADHD, eating disorders, and those who struggle with navigating major life transitions.
I have a down-to-earth, collaborative, inviting style and embrace a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to encourage personal growth, confidence, empowerment, and awareness. I have a profound passion for helping individuals who are motivated to create positive internal change, and my approach integrates a range of modalities based on individual need. Some of the modalities I utilize the most frequently are Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness-based therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and interventions pulled from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). If you feel ready to embrace the challenge of improving your internal experience, I encourage you to take the next step and reach out to me. I would be honored to take this journey of growth with you and help you discover the tools you already have.
I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a concentration in psychological disorders and substance abuse from The George Washington University and have been working as a therapist since 2017. Although I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, I periodically meet with Dr. Janet Beauregard, PhD, LPC, CSAC, CSAT to consult on complex trauma and addiction cases. I only work with adults over the age of 18 and do not provide couples or family therapy at this time.
I am not in-network with insurance but provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Depending on your mental health coverage, most plans allow you to apply for reimbursement using the billing statement I provide on a monthly basis.
I am best reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, but can also be reached by call/text at (703) 829-6418. I look forward to meeting you!
