Sophia Pecoraro, Intern Counselor, l 703- 996-9279 |sophia.fcwc@gmail.com
Hi there! I’m Sophia, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student and intern at Falls Church Wellness Center. Before becoming a counselor, I worked as an elementary and middle school teacher. My experience in education taught me that meaningful support begins with recognizing the strengths, individuality, and potential in each person. I also saw how much growth can happen when we feel genuinely known and understood. These experiences led me to counseling, where I look forward to supporting people through different stages of life.
I approach counseling from a person-centered and strengths-based perspective. I believe clients are the experts on their lives, and each person has a story that deserves to be heard without judgment. I strive to create a safe, genuine, and welcoming space where you can show up as you are and guide the direction of our work together. I work with clients of varying ages, backgrounds, and life experiences, approaching each person with openness, curiosity, and a desire to understand their unique perspective. I am also drawn to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), particularly its focus on identifying what matters most and taking meaningful steps toward living in alignment with our values, even when difficult thoughts and emotions arise.
Above all, I believe that counseling should feel like a place where you can let out a deep breath. You do not need to have it all figured out. It is an honor to be welcomed into someone’s story, and I look forward to walking alongside my clients as we navigate life together.
If anything in my approach resonates with you, I’d love to connect. If you have any questions or would like to get a better sense of what working together might look like, please feel free to reach out for a free consultation to see if we might be a good fit.
